My work explores connections between line, growth and energy, nature’s cyclical persistence and transformation. Treating line as object, the work blurs boundaries between sculpture, drawing and installation.Environmental concerns are important to me: human exploitation of nature and over-consumption inform the content. Rooted in anti-consumerism, my use of reclaimed and discarded materials relates to the issue of waste and our relationship with matter, nature, and ourselves. Materiality and process are central to my practice. The work is hand-made - the action of making often intuitive, time-consuming and repetitive. In 2015 I was awarded Arts Council funding for an ambitious project ‘step in stone‘, involving site-specific artscapes in Mendip quarries with 14 international artists. I curated and featured in the multidisciplinary event, which linked culture, environment and the community. In 2016 I was commissioned to create a 4m hand woven canopy as a focal piece for Sarah Eberle’s Viking Cruises Mekong Garden, Chelsea Flower Show, which won gold and best artisan garden. As part of the education team I lead various workshops and masterclasses on a freelance part-time basis

Taught Art to Yrs 4 - 8 at All Hallows Prep School as an extra-curricular subject - drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and everything in between. Ran specialist workshops, created a site-specific sculpture for their woodland and decorated their sponsored Swan 'Candela' for SwansofWells project, with children's input. Image shows some student work from a project about endangered sea creatures - the outcome was headdresses, shown publicly at Silk Mill, Frome. We used recycled materials, especially plastic.

Taught whole range of Art and Design from Yr 7 - 13 in Secondary Schools, Bristol and Somerset for 15 years - both full time and part time.

Founded in January 2011, we are a group of 4 sculptors dedicated to using mainly found and recycled materials in our work. We create whole landscapes and Trails in public and private places (eg: 'Beyond the Garden Gate' Scraptors Sculpture Trail at Stourhead National Trust Estate).
