As members of a diverse team of young, trained professionals at Southwark Council, we actively participate in our local community by engaging with young people on the streets. Our efforts focus on addressing antisocial behavior, and as young individuals, we serve as a vital link connecting communities with local authorities such as the Met police.We advocate for individuals from underprivileged backgrounds, ensuring that the voices of those who typically don't have access to higher authorities are heard. In doing so, we aspire to bring about positive changes within Southwark.Our responsibilities encompass a range of engagement activities, including distributing informative materials, conducting street-based outreach, event planning, seminar talks and consulting. These activities occur in various settings, from youth clubs to panel talks, allowing us to connect with our community on multiple levels.

I have been working as an Arco Tutor for Maths, English and Sciences since 2020. I’ve had the opportunity to work with new people and help guide GCSE students learn efficient revision methods and understand their subjects better. Working and connecting with new people as well as having to lead sessions has given me a better insight on the working world.

I completed a few weeks of paid work experience with Global reach, sieving through and organising large sets of data; increasing my confidence in Excel spreadsheets as well as helping me develop problem solving skills. This mainly independent work aided me in trusting my decision making.
