Fiona joined Avanti Architects in 1998 and became an Associate in 2010. Since joining Avanti she has developed her interest and wide ranging experience in conservation, adaptive and transformational re-use of listed buildings. Her work includes the successful restoration of the Grade I listed Isokon Flats in London, which won the RIBA Crown Estate Conservation Award which was described as an ‘outstanding example of creative conservation securing a sustainable future for a Grade I listed building at risk’. Thinking creatively about historic buildings, in their refurbishment, extension, reuse, and repair, is central to Fiona’s work. She has also been a key author of conservation plans and listed building management guidelines providing tools for the positive management of the historic buildings, guiding future change. Fiona is a visiting lecturer on the MA course in Historic Environment Conservation at Ironbridge Institute, University of Birmingham.
