Fiona Machado is a passionate first year biology student enrolled in the Honors College at Miami Dade College. Currently working as a Cultural Connection Manager for IREX, they are developing their leadership and problem solving skills. She is eager to participate in undergraduate research. They hope to continue to expand their knowledge to make strides in neuroscientific research, developing drugs that can aid those struggling with mental illnesses like anxiety and depression. Beyond academics, Fiona loves the arts. She knits, crochets, and sketches. She studied theatre for 8 years, which taught her how to easily navigate public speaking, and instilled in her a love for the arts. They love watching movies and sitcoms; her favorite movie is Labyrinth and her favorite sitcom is It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
