Initially I was appointed as the Cover Manager and when the HR manager left I was asked if I would take on the role due to previous experience. It was initially on a terms trial but I was made permanent after proving I was capable of doing both the roles. I am therefore currently the HR and Cover Manager for a large comprehensive. We have 1400 pupils and I support approximately 120 staff. My cover role means I am on call to take notifications of absence from staff and arrange cover as required. My personnel manager role requires me to support SLT as required, offer guidance and support to staff, manage the recruitment needs of the school, process the monthly overtime and absence return and ensure we comply with Safeguarding requirements of Ofsted by keeping the Single Central Record updated. My role requires me to liaise with external companies and other schools on a daily basis.

I was originally taken on as office support to the project managers. However I took on more responsibility and by the time I left I was Project Administrator for a large building societies branch revamp programme and helped to co-ordinate a team of engineers and installers as well as organising signage and logistics
