In 2010, I graduated from Griffith University with a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (1st Class Honours). On entry to the degree I was awarded a Sir Samuel Griffith Scholarship and throughout my course I received academic excellence awards for high academic achievement. I am a reliable and motivated person who works well to deadlines and enjoys a challenge. My Honours degree specialised in molecular biology and protein biochemistry. This background allowed me to gain employment working as a research assistant in a Drosophila Laboratory investigating various interactions of the symbiotic bacteria Wolbachia with its host. At the completion of that appointment I gained employment working with the Middelberg Group at the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, The University of Queensland to realise new technology for vaccines based on virus-like particles and synthetic particles comprising nanoparticles and proteins, and to experimentally test vaccine candidates. Currently I am working at the Queensland Brain Institute, The University of Queensland as a Senior Research Technician researching axon degeneration and regeneration.
