Communio is a medium sized private company that has been established in New Zealand since 1995, providing national services in the coronial services sector. These include national coronial transport, a SUDI (Sudden Unexplained Death of Infants) liaison team who liaise with whānau after the death of an infant to SUDI, national coronial tissue return and Bereavement Care Services at Middlemore hospital. In addition, from 2018 Communio has provided broader mortuary services in five locations across the country.

Having retired from full-time employment Korry was contacted by his last employer when we returned to NZ, asking if he would be prepared to assist with a road design project on a part-time, contracted basis. This was the catalyst for establishing KorFi Consulting. Jacobs continued to contract Korry on various joint-venture design projects. Fiona secured several assignments in the public health sector. Accountable to the Board for delivering New Zealand’s blood supply. Leadership of a high performing Executive team and 500 staff plus volunteers, with a budget of more than $100M. NZBS is a Crown Entity established in 1998 under the New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act 2000. Its primary purpose is the safe, timely, high quality and efficient provision of blood, blood products and related services to clinicians for the people of New Zealand. Responsible for the collection of blood from voluntary, non-remunerated donors, the service provides donor recruitment, collection, testing, blood processing/component manufacture, inventory management and product distribution to the District Health Boards. Unlike many global Blood Services, NZBS’ vein-to-vein responsibility extends to issuing product to patients as it runs the hospital Blood Banks in New Zealand’s six major hospitals.

Member of the Asia Pacific Blood Network (APBN) Board and elected Vice-Chair for the last 3 years. APBN is a regional network of 10 Blood Services, predominantly Asia based, plus Australia and New Zealand. The Board is the governance arm of the organisation, meeting twice each year, with regular teleconferences between meetings. It comprises the Chief Executives (or their representative) from each member country and oversees the organisations strategic plan and activities.

General management position reporting to CEO, with regular board interactions and responsible for the following services: LabPlus, Radiology, Pharmacy, Nutrition, Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering, Clinical Genetics, Allied Health (from 2003), Operating Rooms & Anaesthesia, including Sterile Supply Service (from March 2004), RMO Support Office (March 2004 – June 2005), Clinical Education & Training Unit and Clinical Education Centre (from March 2004).
