Fiona Shannon Email and Phone Number
Fiona grew up in Portstewart, on the scenic North Coast where her artistic talents were greatly influenced by the natural landscape and beautiful coastline. She further developed her creative passion by successfully studying a foundation course in Art and design at South West regional College, Limavady. Fiona successfully completed a three year degree in Contemporary Applied Arts at University of Ulster, Belfast in 2014 where she specliaised in ceramics. Fiona decided her next step was to expand her knowledge and expertise by completing the highly acclaimed Design and Crafts Council of Ireland Ceramics Skills and Design Course and has graduating in 2016."My work this far has mainly focused on functional domestic products ranging from dinnerware to table lamps, all produced on the potter’s wheel. The dinnerware range that I have created is greatly influenced by the social dining experience. It is this communal and social dialogue around the dinner table that is the backbone to my current body of work. My products are a reflection of my childhood experiences, reminiscent of family celebrations and communal meals around the dining table, hence the “sharing” philosophy. Bringing this social experience into my range of tableware I have designed unique high-quality, sharing platters and serving dishes, ideal for breads, oils and salads, perfect for that multi-sensory experience. The simple, rustic and authentic design of the dinnerware and richness of the colours are reminiscent of quality home cooked food. The dinnerware although functional will grace any table and provide unique and beautiful displays that can be cherished forever."
