As a Countryside Ranger at East Renfrewshire Council, I contribute to the protection and enhancement of the natural environment and the promotion of public access and enjoyment. I plan and deliver environmental education programmes, organise and lead guided walks and events, and manage volunteers and community groups. I also assist with the maintenance of paths, fences, signs, and habitats, and monitor and record wildlife and biodiversity.I have a Postgraduate Degree in Animal Welfare Science, Ethics and Law from the University of Winchester, where I developed my knowledge and skills in animal behaviour, welfare assessment, ethics, and policy. I also have a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from The Open University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Glasgow. I have a passion for learning and sharing my expertise with others, and I am always keen to expand my horizons and discover new perspectives.I have extensive experience as a Ranger, having previously worked for Forestry and Land Scotland, where I was involved in managing forest operations, conducting surveys and inspections, and providing visitor services. I have also gained experience as an Animal Carer, Trainer and Rehomer whilst at Dogs Trust, Oak Tree Animals Charity and the Scottish SPCA, where I cared for and rehomed animals, and supported fundraising and awareness campaigns. I have strong skills in volunteer management, events, and communication, and I am outgoing, enthusiastic, and personable. My goal is to make a positive difference in the world by advocating for animal welfare and conservation.
