This role involves governance of the portfolio of Innovation and 2nd Horizon Projects sponsored across the business and driven by the Transurban Strategy Team. As Engineering Lead, I have technical accountability for delivery of the portfolio of projects delivered by individual Project Leads and their teams. These projects aim to bring forward technology that may one day disrupt the how we operate roads.My responsibilities include• Technical accountability for delivery of the portfolio• Innovation engineering governance• Process and guidance• Stakeholder managementLeveraging my skills delivery of both major, lifecycle and innovation projects, this role enables me to empower others to reduce the cost of, improve the performance of or realise new opportunities for functions on the roadside. This portfolio informs our views on lifecycle investment by helping Transurban understand when these are feasible for implementation on our assets.

Domain leadership in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in Surveillance and Detection technology operating across Transurban regions and assets.My responsibilities include• Domain Strategy – the roadmap for technology• Subject Matter expertise – supporting lifecycle projects across assets, and infrastructure projects• Engineering Practice – Ensuring framework for delivering engineering quality• Knowledge sharing - facilitating a community of practice across the regions• Knowledge building- mentoring, training and technical uplift• Innovation –new technologies and capabilityThis role brings together a depth of technical skill with leadership to ensure the most critical technology applied on our roadside is both the best we can source, but also implemented and integrated to deliver the operational outcome meeting asset and operational priorities as well as applicable standards, . My favourite part of this role is empowering individuals and teams across geographies to achieve the outcomes that contribute to the operation of our cities.

In this role at Transurban, Fiona worked as an Intelligent Transport Systems Engineer within the Technology group.She was the Technical Lead for Surveillance and AID component of the CityLink Tulla Widening project. This involves the migration from an analogue network and cameras to a digital IP network and devices, and the replacement of legacy analogue switching equipment with high availability hosting infrastructure supporting a new Video Management System and an upgraded Incident Detection system. In this work, she has facilitated technical disciplines both within as well as disciplines outside her area of practice.The works have involved both design development and project delivery. This includes development of the Operational Concept, Functional Performance Specifications and Statements of Work for the migration of these safety critical and mission critical systems, as well as delivery through the detail design and implementation stages as well as planning the migration into the 24-hour road operation environment.
