About Fiona Clark

A highly experienced strategic leader and successful arts manager and senior fundraiser whose career spans the arts and voluntary sectors in the UK and internationally. Starting out in arts education before progressing to senior positions in a number of respected UK theatres, I then undertook a successful eight-year tenure commissioning, producing and programming new work for one of Britain’s most respected and innovative new writing houses, the Bush Theatre, including West End transfers, national and international touring on all scales, cross art form festival management and collaboration as well as robust management of a building-based arts organisation.Following a year abroad raising $1.5M to manage the global Earthrace project in their successful attempt to break the world circumnavigation record in a ‘green’ powerboat, I was appointed CEO of Get Connected, the UK’s national helpline service for young people, where we successfully grew the charity’s voluntary income and reach threefold in four years.I returned to the arts in January 2014 as Head of Development at the Irish Film Institute in Dublin, to utilise my fundraising, business development and management skills, in my adoptive home of Ireland. I joined the Cork International Film Festival, Ireland's first and largest film Festival in September 2016. I will be responsible for developing fundraising and corporate support through donations and sponsorship. We are looking to build partnerships and engagement schemes, to provide a range of opportunities to support the important and varied work of the IFI.

Earthrace set a new world record for a powerboat to circumnavigate the globe, running 100% renewable Biodiesel fuel, and with a net zero carbon footprint. The bespoke $3.5M Earthrace boat started the race on 27 April 2008 from Spain, breaking the world record in just 60 days 23 hours and 49 minutes, knocking almost 14 days off the previous record, held for ten years. The distance traveled was almost 24,000 nautical miles, fueled by Biodiesel to demonstrate the efficiency of, and draw global attention to, the potential for alternative fuel sources. As CEO, I was responsible for generating $1.5M sponsorship (income and services), introducing enhanced digital platforms (www.earthracetv.net) for public engagement, media and merchandising, and project managing all race preparations, on time and on budget. I led the ground crew team, travelling ahead of the boat to all 12 port stops around the world.
