Graduating in 2005 with an MA(Hons) Management Studies, I decided to stay in Aberdeen and have never looked back.Extensively networked in Aberdeen, I now have significant business development experience; building relationships and selling services to businesses of all sizes and with varying budgets. Membership Network ManagerAberdeen & Grampian Chamber Of Commerce Oct 2012 - Aug 2017Aberdeen, GbPromoted to this post on return from maternity leave in October 2012, this position is a key interface between our membership organisations and the work the Chamber of Commerce is doing on their behalf. The role is a combination of membership recruitment and account management of existing, valued companies.To manage the members more effectively, all are split into distinct sectors and account managed by one of the four Membership Network Managers. My key areas for responsibility include the Third Sector (working with our charitable members) and Culture and Creative Industries. Through regular steering group meetings, we listen to our member companies, understand their barriers and try, where possible, to provide the support they need to grow and develop. AGCC can help where it can to assist with the barriers by lobbying at local and national government level on specific and relevant issues. As a result, this role involves partnership working across the region.Day to day, my work involves much discussion with member companies to encourage their involvement and ensure they get real business value from tapping into our products and services. Attendance at networking events or training courses develops both their brand name and their workforce; while reduced price advertising can help expand business profile across the region. It is my job to make sure that all members are aware of the services and benefits available to them and to ensure, through the course of their membership year, that they are maximising their potential.I project manage the CRM system that we use internally, ensuring this is utilised by all staff for data capture. This means a high level of team interaction, delivering training and on occasions, team updates on new functions of the program. I have been involved in the project since its inception and enjoy the challenge of working with various stakeholder groups to ensure that functionality of the system matches the business need. -

Business Development ExecutiveAberdeen & Grampian Chamber Of Commerce Feb 2007 - Aug 2007Aberdeen, GbI joined the Chamber of Commerce in February 2007 working within the Commercial Training Team, working as part of the sales team to promote the benefits of the Chamber overall but with particular focus on the training services.Much of my time was face to face with members, generating new business from new and existing members as well as non member interaction. This was done in line with the departmental sales and marketing plan and with wider Chamber initiatives. Examples of core tasks included the design and targeting of e-shots, flyers and editorial for the monthly Business Bulletin magazine.Extensive networking at Chamber and all other local events to establish core relationships was critical and a major source of lead generation. It was also one of the most enjoyable parts of the job given the customer service element.The role also involved significant commercial awareness, preparing quotes and tenders for work and ensuring that there was parity between the result for AGCC and cost effectiveness for the member. -
