About Fiona Pelham

Since 2004 I have worked on a combination of my two passions- sustainability and events. I'm interested in how the power of human collaboration can create a world that works for everyone, in other words how events will help us meet the UN SDGs.Imagine a world where everytime people meet there is a positive social and environmental impact. Where uneaten food is donated to address food poverty, where volunteers from the local community learn new skills to create work opportunities, where destinations implement sustainability initiatives as a way to win new business. Not for profit Positive Impact exists to provide education and collaboration opportunities to create a sustainable event industry. Our campaigns include #CSRshareday which reaches over 2 million annually, #shareapositiveimpact which gathers best practice and #eventscreatepeace #honestgame and #girlscreatingIn 2020 we delivered a global campaign to upskill 100,000 event professionals to build the future of how human connection happens with the support of our community of over 1,200 global ambassadors. To get involved with the creation of a sustainable event industry see http://www.positive-impact-events.comOver the past 15 years I been international chair for the creation of ISO20121 (since 2012) and the world’s biggest association for event professionals- Meeting Professionals International (2016).I have spoken globally about the power of events to create a world that works for everyone and in 2014 received an honorary doctorate from Leeds Beckett University for services to the event industry in sustainability.
