The team three areas of focus:* Comunity Information and Support (CI&S)* Financial Assitance and Capability Team (FACT) *Complex Support Program. Together these teams assist over 140 households each week. Providing support through a person-centred approach. Many of the people we work with ask for assistance with food and energy due to the current cost of living crisis. Many people are homeless or at risk of homelessness or perhaps accessing Services Australia (Centrelink) for the first time. The team can assist with service navigation, information and referral. For the team to be able to provide this level of assistance a continual education program is delivered daily and weekly drop-in sessions with Services Australia, NDIS, and Homelessness services have been implemented. FACT has highly developed skills in budgeting and can work with people to apply for a No Interest Loan through Good Shepherd or to complete their tax returns. The Complex Support Program works with people needing additional support, for example, victim survivors of domestic violence, or people with drug or alcohol addiction.Throughout the year the team is supported by over 30 social work students on 500-hour placement.I am the task supervisor. Students rotate throughout the program. Currently theprogram is working with La Trobe University, RMIT, Victoria University, Federation University and Melbourne University.The majority of the work is completed at 285 High Street Preston, however, we have regular outreach at Reservoir Neighbourhood House, East Preston Community Centre, and several public housing estates across Darebin.
