As a first employee of an innovative startup, I have had the incredible opportunity to explore tools and technologies to support the needs and functions of a new type of company in the healthcare space. As an intern, over the course of three months, I gathered business requirements and technical specifications from stakeholders, and learned several new technologies: Ruby on Rails, Bootstrap, PostgreSQL, Heroku, to design, host and singlehandedly build the front and back end of a functional relational database tool, with user and secure administrator functions, which was actively used as a resource library for case managers supporting people experiencing serious illness.
