Manual test of database changes and data extracts in a large scale data environment. Occasional opportunities for some automation testing to the database/extract testing occur. Use of Unix, Jira, Netezza and Oracle is a daily occurrence. The creation of test requirements, the testing and issue investigation in batch scripts and data diving with SQL as well as a walkthrough of the test evidence with stakeholders for quality gate sign-off is all part of the product lifecycle. Has tested many projects successfully through to ready for release to Production from a wide variety of areas in the business from SDRS (Data for the Police), Sky Business, Billing, Ref Data, Speech Analytics, Insight and analytics report extracts for internal use and for third party companies.

Test automation using VBScript in HP QTP/UFT in an agile environment. Delivered automation testing for many phases of a large scale project to move from one large/complicated piece of software used in call centres to smaller integrated pieces of software to perform the same functions. This could involve end-to-end testing, integration testing, regression test, functional test, SQL queries of Oracle databases, running batches, UI checking.

Designed and executed a range of manual tests for web applications, created for internal bank use by an in-house development team. As sole independent test resource, I would be working on multiple products simultaneously and juggling the testing demands of their different delivery schedules. Tests might be functional, regression, system/integration tests, performance tests and would be in a variety of test and pre-production environments often with production quality data.Since this was a step in the software delivery process that had not been previously been called out separately, some processes had to be fleshed out to become practical.

Application Technical Lead and Developer for an IBM Rational ClearQuest/MultiSite issue tracking system used by over 2700 users worldwide. Administration and support for IBM Rational ClearCase/MultiSite software configuration management tool in a global environment spanning ten sites.• Consistently delivered, on a 3 monthly schedule, eight enhancements and bugfix releases to the Spider issue tracking system (Clearquest with Multisite) and managed the concurrent deployment to seven sites.• Deployed the issue tracking system across the group and successfully migrated five divisions to the system, which allowed for several legacy tools/servers to be decommissioned on four of our larger sites. • Expanded the capabilities of the issue tracking system to improve data capture and allow for wider adoption.• Established a new ClearQuest Web server in a remote data centre and migrated existing services from multiple sites.• Improved ClearCase performance and reduced maintenance costs by consolidating from legacy HP-UX ClearCase servers to Linux servers.• Rationalized the local ClearCase architecture to eliminate duplication and to create a simpler and consistent access model for the end user.• Implemented scripts to manage the ClearCase MultiSite data replication for a travelling server which was used as a development platform at customer sites.• Managed ClearCase upgrades and patches from versions 3.1.1 to 7.0 on UNIX and Windows platforms.• Responsible for dramatically improved ClearCase MultiSite replication performance and resilience across collaborating sites, which eliminated much of the administrative overhead and reduced the latency for engineers working in different time zones.• Fostered regular communication and collaboration with colleagues across many different sites, time zones and cultures..

Sought out the opportunity to enter the support side of the R&D process by becoming an IBM Rational ClearCase administrator plus other tools used by R&D.• Merged the licences for the three sections to get more efficient use of them as the departments grew. Ultimately these were merged with other divisions on site to gain this benefit for the whole site.

Develop and execute functional and environmental tests for new telecommunication test measurement equipment in development.• Successfully provided an excellent level of verification coverage for the new software of several of the company’s VXI range of instruments and saw them through to ship release.• Gained experience of developing and executing parametric testing with an instrument under test in the environmental chambers.• Created own schedule for test delivery on several projects and executed to meet those.

Embraced an opportunity to execute mechanical and long term environmental tests as well as to co-ordinate the full test process for new telecommunication test equipment in development.• Saw several projects through to shipment, while working closely with the project manager to ensure all tests were completed satisfactorily and on time.• Liaised with external test site to coordinate vibration and shock tests

Progressed to develop and execute functional verification tests for new telecommunication test equipment in development.• Successfully learned to develop functional tests in Rocky Mountain Basic on the Unix platform and tested several new products through to shipment release.• Piloted close working with the R&D project by sitting within the project team.

Analyzed data and developed programs for use in the calibration and repair of telecommunication test equipment. Analyzed warranty data and optimized the calibration cycle. Developed new calibration programs and translated older programs for the Metrology Lab.
