I am the Medical Director for Oncology Research at Baptist Health Lexington Cancer Center in Lexington, Kentucky. I earned my medical degree in 2004 from the University of Damascus Medical School in Syria. I completed an internal medicine residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New Jersey and then a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Kentucky. I also earned a master’s degree in business and health system management in 2020 from Morehead State University. I am board-certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology. I am also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and a member of the International Society of Cellular Therapy (ISCT). I serve as the vice president of the KY Society of Clinical Oncology KYSCO. My current clinical and research focus is on thoracic oncology, and have been the principal investigator of numerous clinical trials. I won the Young Investigator Research award at the San Antonio conference in December 2009. I authored multiple publications in the field of Oncology, including in the New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Oncology, and Clinical Lung Cancer. My work has been presented at national meetings. I am also the founder and the president of the Syrian American Cancer Center, a not-for-profit organization that cares for Arabic-speaking patients with cancer all over the world.
