I was an intern at Norris Adolescent Center from January 2011 until May 2011. As an Intern at Norris I worked with at-risk adolescent boys. At least two or three times a week I would work at Norris where I would observe the staff and there interactions with the clients. At times I would also help in areas where the staff may have needed assistance. In July of 2011 I was hired as a youth care worker at Norris. My job entails working with the boys on the different residential units. The different units are based off of the different treatment programs. The different programs include AODA, mental health, sexuality and behavioral treatment. Through Norris, I have been trained in POSC and verbal judo. I have also attended many in-services provided by Norris. I am currently working on becoming certified as a youth care worker. My goal is to continue working at Norris Adolescent Center so I can build up enough experience and then continue my eduction in graduate school where I hope to get my PhD in counseling psychology.
