Trafigura is one of the world's largest private oil and metal traders, with significant investment physical assets to support their logistic operation. I was in charge of the logistic operations within the company, and my main responsibility included but was not limited to monthly research on Indonesian coal, contract drafting and negotiation with the logistic service provider, monitoring prepayment schedules provided to coal supplier, financial and treasury functions, and monthly regulatory reporting to the government.Over the course of my career at Trafigura, I have enhanced my communication, research and teamwork skills through my involvement in the various functions. In the meantime, I also developed my working knowledge about trading business, specifically commodity trading.

As part of the treasury team, my main responsibility was to prepare and submit government regulatory reports to Bank Indonesia (Indonesia Central Bank). Aside from the reports, I was part of the project on automatization of these regulatory reports. Attention to detail was the main skill developed throughout my tenure, as most of the data required for submission was prepared by various divisions in the company and I need to check this data in order to avoid any mistakes and any potential penalties.

During the period of the internship, I was assigned to audit a coal mining company in Indonesia. The essence of the internship program was to understand the general process of auditing. The internship was also part of my independent study required to graduate from University of Indonesia.My main responsibility during the program consisted of substantive testing for the company’s financial statement, internal control effectiveness along with the preparing a working paper in order to draw my opinion on the company’s financial statement.Upon completion of the program, my communication skills developed significantly, specifically in the business communication environment. Furthermore, I also enhanced my analytical skills because during the internship program I need to analyse data provided by the client to complete my working paper. Along with the development of my communication skill, I also managed to gain more knowledge about the mining industry and audit service generally.
