  • Institute Of Material Science Of Seville
    Pre-Doctoral Fellow
Institute Of Material Science Of Seville Sep 2005 - Aug 2011
    Sevilla Y Alrededores, España
Graduated and Pre-Doctoral researcher at the Prof. A. R. Gonzalez-Elipe's research group under the supervision of Dr. Angel Barranco at the Insititute of Materials Science of Seville (CSIC-US).The research was devoted to the development a new kind of photofunctional thin films based on dye containing nanocomposites. These photofunctional materials were deposited by a novel plasma deposition process also developed during the Thesis. Within this period different kinds of luminescent and sensors films were synthetized for photonic applications and the detection and real time monitoring of environmental changes (temperature, gases, UV irradiation). These luminescent films were successfully implemented as active components in different photonics structures (i.e. photonic crystals and waveguide based resonant structures), yielding a new kind of photonic sensors chips developed within the European Project PhoDye (http://www.phodye.icmse.csic.es/).Acquired knowledge and thechnical skills:• Background in plasma deposition techniques and high vacuum systems.• Photofunctional Thin Films.• Dye Nanocomposites.• Basic knowledge in photonics and sensing fields.• Characterization Techniques: - Thin films chacterization: X-Ray Photoelecton (XPS), Infrared (FT-IR) and UV-Visible spectroscopies. - Fluorescence: Steady sate and time resolved fluorescence spectroscopies, quantum yield determination and fluorescence microscopy.
