CEO to accelerate a Board initiated strategy of business development within international markets (Europe and China) to the local markets. Developed and implemented a Project Initiation Document, Scope of Works and Project Task Reports. Identified all major business architecture risk to allow a reporting process designed to mitigate the risk, crystallise time and critical path processes to ensure product delivery. Developed and implemented an IT architecture for inventory, sales and invoicing for 12,000 over 29,000 stock keeping units. Established a documented matrix to give effective and clear lines of communication in the business through alignment of the cross functional teams, formal reports, effective relationships and regular meeting. Ensured that the best customer opportunities for value creation were fulfilled by proactively identifying total cost of ownership, procurement and inbound supply chain improvement opportunities at an early stage, clarifying the value of the opportunity, responding quickly to customer initiatives and liaising with resources to match needs.

12 month contract to execute procurement contracts. What I did, apart from satisfying my contract, was to restructure the existing procurement model to align it with company policies and procedures. Formed stakeholder alliances with business units wanting to conform to company policies and procedures. With success secured all business units came on board and the sum of the parts became whole. This involved structural changes, internal and external relationship building and change management process resulting in an outstanding commendation and recommendation from the auditors to roll out the architecture to all other sites. To achieve that I developed a top down process using LEAN and connecting each business unit to form one moving entity. I utilised existing IT infrastructure to maximise returns on purchase and forecast of spends. In addition, with management support, I streamlined the warehousing and inventory of 83,000 SKUs reducing administration costs. This created internal clusters of high coefficient people having external random links to suppliers. I expected from business unit managers and delivered the same a cohesion of internal function. I improved, updated and enhanced contractual terms to the latest legal position. I delivered value by providing a safe, efficient and effective procurement and in-bound supply chain services to the Rio Tinto Group businesses and functional operations. Value was achieved through the establishment and improvement of competitive supply markets for the purchase of goods and services. Value is enabled by highly capable people applying uniform processes and e-technologies resulting in continuous supply chain improvement, enhanced corporate social responsibility and measurable savings for Rio Tinto; in one business unit cost savings of 40% was delivered.

CEO to a USA subsidiary for a green-field expansion within China to connect synergies of international trade to overcome international confinement, cross boarder embargoes and sovereignty trade restrictions. Reported to the USA board on the dynamic strategies of local, regional and international maritime boarders. The difficult legal environment reflected the standards of legal and business environment within China at that time. The rule of law and business doctrine was dormant with uncertainty the dominant feature. Alliances were needed to span the gap and forge the certainty and trust required. Minister Feng, Shanghai’s Director General of Planning grew to know me as a trusted friend, a link to successful importing/exporting and to Australia knowing I could strategize through international, national and local issues with skilled diplomacy and fluency. The success of what I was doing inspired others to seek assistance, such as Austrade as I was able to solve profound legal and business problems inside and importing into China. I was invited and accepted contracting roles with Chinese manufactures and engineering projects spanning from Russia, China and Hong Kong. To achieve results I structured business units with wide variation of disciplines, reporting similar guidelines and aspirations to meet the growing demands. With constant reporting – daily at times due to the dynamics- the Board accepted and approved my recommendations. I would report and initiate projects which aligned to our enterprise focus. Due to the nature of the work I establish political and network relationships in Russia, China Hong Kong and Indonesia. I strategically led, trained and motivated a team of Chinese and Westerners staff in the use of EPM systems, accounting reporting, fraud prevention, procurement systems, cost control for financial maximisation.

Contracted and worked for several building, engineering and civil companies as a contract manager to manage and control hard dollar Private and Government projects in schools, Gaols, Rail and Road infrastructure.
