    The MIH Media Lab was a premiere inter-disciplinary research lab at Stellenbosch University. My first thesis was on using Google Trends data to nowcast consumer confidence. The project was successful, and could reliably predict the most popular indicators. My second thesis was on using data from the film industry and piracy ecosystem to disentangle how production companies were changing their mix of movies to compensate for the rise of piracy. The model explained the rise in super-tentpole content that we see today.
