After completing High School, I enrolled for a BEng Electrical Engineering degree through the University of Pretoria. However, after successfully completing the first half of my second year of my BEng studies, I found that I wanted a more "hands-on" experience and enrolled with Sol-Tech to start myself on the road to becoming a Master Electrician.I completed my initial N-Level studies in Electrical Engineering at Sol-Tech during 2018 and was then recommended by the Student Advisor to continue with my apprenticeship whilst studying part time, in order to progress quicker through the qualification process. I was fortunate to be employed by Tubecon Africa (Pty) Ltd in December 2018 and completed my internship in December 2019. Following my internship, I was contracted by Tubecon for January 2020 to assist in showing a new apprentice the ropes.During my internship at Tubecon, I enrolled at NTEK and completed my N3 Electrical, as well as several N4 subjects, part time.Since then, I have studied fulltime at the Academic Institute of Excellence, completing my N6 Electrical Engineering (Light Current), N6 Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current), as well N5 Mechanical Engineering. I am currently enrolled for the remainder of my N6 Mechanical Engineering subjects. At the start of my N6 Mechanical Engineering studies, I was employed by Gibson Technologies as an electrician. After the design phase, I was given electrical drawings from which I wired large electrical control panels for grain mills and feed mills. We also did site installs where we drove these panels to where they need to go, as well as commissioning and maintenance of already installed systems. My short-term goal is to complete my N6 Mechanical Engineering qualification, whilst gaining valuable practical experience through a reputable employer. In the medium term I plan on completing the Installation Rules Paper 1 & 2 and become a registered installation electrician, as well as attend Solar PV courses, as my interest in this field has been steadily growing the more I hear about it.My vision for the future is to obtain practical and theoretical knowledge to one day become a Master Electrician.
