I play the strategic game of aligning a product’s requirements with business and customer needs—conceptualising and designing balanced and elegant product solutions for our customers amidst any constraints in the product’s technical framework.My role is both a hands-on and strategic role that demands I maintain a solid working knowledge across multiple disciplines including design, audio engineering, acoustic principles, electronics, mechanical engineering, and software development to be aware and conversant with all aspects of products.

Leading the experience design team and working close to the ground with multidisciplinary engineering teams—going in equipped with a working understanding of software development, mechanical engineering concepts, and electronics engineering to know the limits of what can be done and then push those limits to maximise the potential of every product that has the RØDE name attached.

Drive a hands-on approach to the UX design process for all products, including: microphones, audio interfaces, podcasting consoles, and both embedded and desktop software—striving to strike the perfect balance of usability, usefulness, and exceptional design.

Writing concise, well-crafted content and messaging that supports and helps define larger-scale content strategy for our clients. In this role, I have collaborated with designers, researchers, writers and other key business stakeholders to write and test user-focused content for mobile, desktop, online, and in-person.

Gathering and evaluating user requirements, in collaboration with product managers and engineers, I illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps, and further design products from strategy to launch; knowing when to apply pixel-perfect attention to detail, and when to make low-fi mockups.I enjoy the back and forth consulting and partnering with developers and engineers to find practical solutions to challenging designs.

Within a three and a half week design sprint, our team conducted user research, created and iterated prototypes for both the website and the application, and tested it with key users. The end result was a functional HTML5/CSS3 landing page, and some functional design changes to the platform.In this contracted role, I was involved in research in order to understand and document the typical VideoFacilitator user journey; and through this, identify pains and gains, and make recommendations relating to the website as well as the platform.
