The Planning Policy Division comprises three business units the Territory Plan, Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Planning and Design. These units provide the strategic direction and evidence base through early infrastructure investigations, to inform and enable coordinated planning outcomes across the Territory. This work informs and sets the framework for the sustainable development of the city as articulated in the ACT Strategic Plan. My key focus has been to build effective communication channels to ensure business unit and cross directorate issues have an appropriate framework for identification and resolution and forums are identified for strategic resolution of issues.Work underway includes ACT Planning Strategy Refresh Housing Choices to ensure planning responds to housing needsUrban Renewal through completion of the master plan program and the City and Gateway corridor Framework and place making activities.

I lead and support 480 staff, contractors and a budget of $330 million (including capital works) to ensure delivery of the ACT Governments requirements for the provision of safe, clean, economical and effective management of publicly owned open spaces and transportation network including roads, cycleways and pedestrian areas for use by ACT’s residents and visitors.A key feature of my role has been supporting and enabling multiple opportunities for staff to enjoy a safe and supportive working environment which rewards their efforts and support innovative service delivery options.

The Authority is a Statutory appointment under the Animal Welfare Act, 1992 (AWA). In this role I had responsibility for ensuring people in the ACT who own, work with and interact with animals understand how an animal should be cared for and ensure standards of care are managed. I undertook significant public and interest group engagement and support networks delivering the responsibilities of the AWA.A key achievement whilst in the role was the development of the Animal Welfare and Management Strategy

With support of approximately 300 staff and contractors I was responsible for the delivery of municipal services across government owned open spaces and commercial areas including cleaning, horticultural maintenance, management of Canberra’s urban forest, animal management and welfare including regulatory schemes.Engagement of staff in progressive and innovative work programs was central to delivery of enhanced offerings with no impact to operational budgets. The efforts undertaken by staff at all levels to ensure the ACT provided safe and engaging environs also directly supported Canberra's reputation for liveability.
