John Flannery is Managing Director at Charlesbank and leads the firm's Portfolio Resources Group (PRG), working with CEOs and their teams to improve operating performance, strategy, and governance, and drive consistent equity value in the portfolio overall. John joined Charlesbank in 2019 after 31 years at GE, where he most recently served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Flannery was GE’s eleventh CEO and the company’s tenth Chairman. GE is the world’s digital industrial company, operating in 180 countries around the world.Before his appointment as CEO, Flannery led the turnaround of GE Healthcare, establishing technology leadership in core imaging, creating digital platforms and solutions, and expanding its Life Sciences and cell therapy systems businesses. He also launched Sustainable Healthcare Solutions, bringing disruptive technologies to healthcare providers across emerging markets.Flannery began his career at GE in 1987. He spent over 20 years at GE Capital holding various leadership roles in the United States, Latin America, and Asia. He was named a Company Officer in 2005.In 2009, he was appointed President and CEO of GE India, and in 2013, head of Business Development for all of GE. Flannery helped oversee significant portfolio transformation including significant acquisitions and divestitures in GE’s financial services and industrial portfolios.Flannery is a graduate of Fairfield University and holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He resides in Boston, MA.
