After more than two years working in a mid-size practice, I felt I was ready to undertake a more advanced role. I joined HA Design Studio, a small-size practice focused on residential projects where I have more flexibility in my creational designs, where I took insights directly from clients. I dealt with all stages of a project, from design conception to conclusion, passing through detail design, tender procedures and project planning. My job also involved working conjunctively with a Senior Architect for the request, preparation and submission for BCMS.

I got my first job as an Architectural Graduate in Ireland at Downey Planning & Architecture after over a year of studying a new language. I was so happy that I had achieved one of my goals in this new chapter of my life. The job was challenging as I was just getting acquainted with new technical words and the Irish legislation and regulations.My job initially mainly involved the development of feasibility studies, the production of drawings for planning permission, 3D modelling and documentation recording. As I got more familiarised with these tasks, I was offered hands-on experience in the construction sites, where I regularly visited projects for inspections and supervision, and started to prepare technical construction detailed drawings.

After three months into my English classes, I got the chance to work as a part-time Deli Assistant, it was the first time I worked outside my area of expertise and also working in a different language to my mother tongue. It was hard work as I was not used to this type of job, and at the same time so gratifying for having an opportunity in a country I had just arrived.As the months passed and my English skills were getting better, I was on the look out for once again work as an architect, now in Ireland.

This is it! I opened my own architectural practice. This step really taught me how to do, well, everything in an office. I was working on my own and had to deal with every detail of every single project, as well as dealing with the financial aspects of running a business. I really flourished as an architect and entrepreneur. While this experience made me grow a lot, there was something I still wanted to pursue. I had always wanted to learn English and I saw an opportunity. I have always been passionate about the European architecture as well, Dublin seemed the perfect spot to go to.

By the time I graduated, I was leading many processes in the practice and, after finishing my degree, I was offered a full-time position as an Interior Architect. In the new role, I continued to lead projects and grew both my hard and soft skills. This experience encouraged me to open my own practice and to work as a solo trader in the year to come.

While focusing on my studies, I wanted to get more practice before I graduated. For this reason I joined EQPE on my last year of college as an Interior Design Intern.In there, I developed further my 3D modelling and presentation skills. This experience also thought me so much about dealing with clients, negotiating, listening and managing their requests. Furthermore, this job served for my up skilling of budged estimation. I was responsible for dealing with fee proposals as well as following up with clients upon design completion to make sure they were satisfied, and if not, making any necessary changes.

After leaving my apprenticeship, I was invited by Lau Arquitetura to join as an intern, this was my first hands-on architectural experience. I was managing tasks such as surveying existing buildings, developing drawings for planning submissions and preparing construction drawings. I also improved my creation skills a lot and started to feel passion for this area.
