Profile bio

About Louise Fleming, Ba (Hons)

Currently, I am employed as a Social Care Leader in a semi independent living program working with 16-18 year olds as they prepare to leave care, in a residential setting. I completed the BA (Hons) - 1st Class - in Social Care at Cork Institute of Technology (now Munster Technological University) as part of which I completed my research dissertation entitled: 'Adolescent psychological development and their online behaviour: Elkind’s Theory of Adolescent Egocentrism – the imaginary audience and the role it plays in the online behaviour (specifically social network sites) of young people.' I have experience in encouraging self-management, empowerment and personal care amongst service users, contributing to the care, support and protection of service users in a care setting and in line with policy. Furthermore, I have participated in service users daily routine, day centre services and social excursions as well as constantly maintaining and demonstrating a positive attitude towards clients, their families, staff, visitors and others. In addition, I have experience with advocacy, relationship building, conflict prevention and safeguarding vulnerable adults, young people and children through home visits with St Vincent de Paul. I have also worked with vulnerable children in Nairobi, Kenya in a residential setting and was selected, as one of four from a class of 80, to complete a Child Centred Project with teenagers in The Netherlands.I am keen to continue to increase my work experience and further education in order to develop my skills and competencies in the social care sector. I wish to do this through challenging positions within a caring organisation where I will be able to further enhance my career in working with families and children at risk.

Listed skills include Social Skills, Social Services, Community Outreach, Research, and 19 others.
