While working for my own web design business (Techmark), I joined with Matthew Dyer on a new start-up "eatnow.com.au" - an online business in the takeaway food sector.Seeing the success that similar businesses were having in UK and Europe, we took the opportunity to capitalise on the trend of online food ordering in Australia.I became a director of Eat Now back in 2010 and worked part time on Eat Now as a User Interface Developer and took over the sales to signup restaurants. Many hours were spent on strategising about what to tackle next and how to improve and simplify the ordering process.After 2 years of exciting month on month growth we were bought out by the Catch Group (Scoopon, Catch of the Day etc.). Invizage was an IT Service provider that had a strong presence in the Eastern Sates. I contacted the 2 directors and put together a deal where by I could set up their Adelaide office. I took over servicing their Adelaide based clients and acted in a dual sales/consulting and technical role to grow and service their Adelaide business.Working mainly in IT projects for the SME, I provided desktop, network and server setup and support. I was a certified Microsoft Systems Engineer in Windows NT but all of my work experience had been in setting up and supporting Windows 2000 and up so was very familiar with AD (even though I hadn't studied it in a class room).I loved this job, because it allowed me to use my "jack of all trades" approach from consulting and sales, through to project management and implementation and follow it up with after sales support and ongoing servicing. If I could have designed my dream job at the time, this would have been it.We grew the Adelaide office to 6 staff and Invizage was bought out by Sensis (Telstra). Soon after the acquisition I decided to move on.
