Currently employed as a full time staff pharmacist in Gardendale, AL at a store processing 700 prescriptions daily. This position has afforded me the opportunities continue strengthening my skills in interpreting prescriptions for appropriateness, as well as reviewing new prescription orders for duplication, allergies, and potential drug interactions before preparing and dispensing medications to patients. In this position I evaluate patients medications and the patient’s ability to understand medication instructions, while providing oral and written counseling to clarify or reinforce the patient’s understanding of their medication therapy. I monitor dosages of medication as well as intended therapy by utilizing drug information and clinical resources. I confidently fulfill duties involving direct patient contact including immunization of patients, counseling for Coumadin therapy, smoking cessation counseling, and motivational interviewing. This job requires me to communicate product information and drug therapy education to patients, medical staff, nurses, and other hospital and healthcare personnel on a daily basis.
