I manage, book and promote for Sparkle City Disco, vinyl disco DJs out of Nashville. I do some booking for other DJs in town as well.

Over the past couple of years I have supplemented my income by taking on work as a copywriter. I worked with the owner of a company called Visual Rush who outsourced work to me. My responsibilities included interviewing and/or surveying clients for core content, biographical information, background information and company image. My clients were never similar, which meant I had to research a lot about their respective industries, including architecture, SaaS, Ophthalmology, etc. My degree in writing and my skills as a communicator, as well as my desire to continue learning into my adult years made this contract work fun and exciting.

I founded Gathr, LLC back in 2012 with a couple of partners. We created an app called Loop, with which we intended to isolate and replace Facebook Events. In short, Loop was a way for people to spontaneously create events and easily invite friends and family on the fly. It was different from Facebook events in a number of ways. Primarily, Loop was interested in what happened while you were at the event. Pictures and video that were captured on an attendee's phone could be pushed up to a local folder associated only with that event, and visible only to users who were invited to and attended that event. Similarly, users would be able to collaborate on playlists, adding songs on the fly, and being notified when their song was about to play. The long term goal was for local businesses to create Loop accounts that users could subscribe to. That way they could create special events for their regulars, or offer deals to new customers to increase their clientele.Loop was shut down before it was ever deployed due to the founders moving in different directions.However, the idea is still perfectly valuable, and with the rise of beacon technology and the physical web, it's an even better idea than before.

I moved to Korea to teach English as a Second Language immediately after I graduated from Belmont in 2010. I literally hit the ground running, as I was introduced to my students and shown my classroom and desk before ever setting foot in my apartment. As a teacher, I was responsible for crafting lesson plans, creating summer and winter camp curriculums, tutoring students one on one, and grading papers. The students I was primarily responsible for were middle school aged, but I took on extra work a few months into my stint teaching K-2nd graders. I also had one adult student that I met with independently to teach him more business related English. Working in Korea came with its own set of challenges, such as learning how to discipline students who barely speak your language, settling into the culture and traditions of a completely new and different society, and being away from everyone I ever knew. It was an amazing experience that taught me a lot about who I am as person, a professional and an American. I'll never forget the year I spent and worked in Korea.
