Trained with a team of operators of an anonymous helpline available to students at the University of East Anglia who may not have had anyone available to open up to in their personal lives, or otherwise needed someone there to listen. Operators were trained on methods to lead callers to their own conclusions, avoiding giving direct advice or asking leading questions. In this way, the position served as valuable baseline experience on the road to eventually becoming a clinical therapist.

Worked in Chicago’s O’Hare airport to help any passengers in need of wheelchair assistance to get from one location to another. This included onboarding and offboarding passengers from and onto planes, as well as transferring them from one gate to another and assisting immobile passengers out of airplane seats directly onto their wheelchair. Maintaining professionalism in stressful situations was a regular requirement of the job, with thousands of passengers being assisted by a relatively small team every day. As a result, rushes were a daily occurrence. I was presented with a fast-paced work environment and required to adapt accordingly, a challenge which I rose to.
