I have served as senior pastor of Henderson Baptist Church in Hickory Tavern, South Carolina, since 2009. We cooperate locally with the Laurens Baptist Association, regionally with the South Carolina Baptist Convention, and nationally/internationally with the Southern Baptist Convention.

Mt. Olive Baptist Church is a small conservative family church in a growing rural area of North Florida. I accepted a call from Mt. Olive to serve as Associate Pastor of Worship and Adult Discipleship where I served on a ministerial staff that included a senior pastor and full-time youth pastor. My responsibility here included planning and leading the Sunday worship services, leading the adult choir, developing and guiding the adult discipleship ministry of the church, website development, and assisting the senior pastor in the overall pastoral ministry of the church.

During this time period I was responsible for planting a new church in a growing high-tech, metropolitan community of upwardly mobile professionals with a high concentration of Asian Americans and immigrants. It was during this time that I used the internet to launch a successful and on-going community Bible study (biblestudy.meetup.com/153). Though successful at starting a Bible study, a community worship service, and leading various outreach events--at the end of our time our support was unsustainable. This was a growing time for me and my family with the help of our friends and family at Salem Baptist Church and Lee Road Baptist Church and the place where our daughter Eden was born.

I actually started here part-time as Minister of Music working with the worship planning and adult choir. My role was later expanded to include leadership over the educational ministry of the church. This was my first full-time ministry position after graduating from college, and it was while serving here that I attended seminary, met, and married my wife Amy.
