Madrid Area, Spain

During my internship at political department of the Dutch Embassy in Madrid I was responsible for reporting important political developments in Spain to the Ministry in The Hague. Topics included Catalan separatism, migration, and Brexit. Furthermore, I contributed to and organized events, such as expert workshops and Madrid’s annual Gay Pride, and pushed the sustainability project within the embassy.

Amsterdam Area, Netherlands

Assisting in the organisation of a lecture series about the future of Europe for De Balie's project Re:Thinking Europe. Speakers included Ivan Krastev, Kalypso Nicolaïdis, and Philipp Blom. Lectures were held in Amsterdam & Maastricht. The internship was a collaboration between University College Maastricht (UCM) and De Balie in the context of UCM's Applied Research and Internship project. The project challenges motivated students to combine research and practical work experience as part of their academic curriculum. Supervision: Anne-Marijn Epker (De Balie) & Mathieu Segers (UCM).

Observant Online is the online version of Maastricht University's independent newspaper. During my time in Spain, I regularly wrote articles reflecting on the differences and similarities between life and university in the Netherlands and Spain. Upon moving back to Maastricht, I covered local (university) politics.
