i am a retired designer, who loves working with flowers. My design career took me from sweater designer for a Philadelphia firm (Devon Knitwear, following graduation from Moore College of Art), where in my short tenure produced the highest selling design for them at that time. I left there to have my first child and moved to South Jersey. When my second daughter was three years old and in dancing school, her instructor "linked" me to Baums, the famous dance store in Phladelphia, who accepted 127 designs for their catalog. That was the beginning of a free-lance career ultimately becoming a cottage industry with twelve seamstresses creating and producing garments for commercial, promotional, and theatrical use. Credits included Downingtown Inn, Burn Brae Dinner Theatre (WDC), City Tavern of Philadlephia, Amercana Hotel (Albany, NY), and mascots for the Phila Flyers (Slapshot) and Phila Fever (Soccoroo That was then, this is now. In retirement, I have found that working with flowers (silk) is as good as it gets for creating silk arrangements in antique, collectible, vintage curiosity containers as one-of-a-kind gifts for home decor. I have expanded this venture to include custom design for commercial decor and event table decorations. I still do needlework, (crocheting afghans for seven grandchildren's future marriages), stay abreast of world news and domestic politics, and travel.
