Over the years I have accumulated an interesting mix of technological knowledge and organisational know-how as a security expert, systems developer, PhD candidate, university board member, member of quality assurance boards, as chairperson of student organisations and chapters, and I have more than thirty cumulative years of board experience, spread over government agencies, economic associations and non-profit organisations. I started off with a degree in computer engineering (MSc) which I over the years expanded with a doctorate degree in Industrial Engineering and Management with a specialisation in Economic Information Systems with a thesis titled "Coordinating the Internet: Thought styles, technology and coordination". The thesis concerns the grey area of combined technology, markets and bureaucracy and their sometimes weird or unexpected interactions, with the Internet and its coordination as the primary case.I subscribe to the belief of recruitment as a primary management tool, and I do not believe that complicated technological and organisational interactions and dynamics can be solved fully by micro-management or planning. Rather in the age of digitisation education, competence and trust should be the lodestars of development of organisation, technology and their interaction and coordination.
