Florian Lorenz is a landscape architect and process designer with a focus on public space, mobility and postcarbon urbanism. He plans and facilitates urban transformation processes and cooperates with leading institutions in R&D projects on sustainable mobility and urban planning. Florian consults cities, companies and NGOs developing projects in collaborative settings with partners worldwide. In 2021 Florian co-founded LAUT – Landscape Architecture and Urban Transformation together with Georg Wieser.Florian is executive director of the think tank Smarter Than Car where he works to pro-actively further the decarbonisation agenda. As one of the co-founders of the Low Carbon City foundation Florian is engaged to implement citizen-led projects to build communities beyond a dependence on fossil fuels.Florian co-organized influential public forums, including the Fourth World Bicycle Forum in Medellin with 6,500 participants, the 2013 Velo-city, the 2015 Walk21 conference, the 2016 Low Carbon City Forum or the Urban Future Global Conference 2018. Florian has been an invited speaker at conferences and universities in Europe, China and Latin America and advocates his agenda as activist and educator.
