Steunpunt Huiselijk Geweld is a crisis intervention team for everybody who is involved in a situation regarding domestic violence or human trafficking. Victims, perpetrators, their children, their family or neighbours who witnessed domestic violence can call for advice or help. Also organizations that in the execution of their work encounter domestic violence can contact Steunpunt Huiselijk Geweld for help or advice.Within Steunpunt Huiselijk Geweld organisation, I was responsible to advice and assists clients regarding all forms of relational violence, whether it is domestic violence, elderly abuse, honour-related violence, human trafficking or child prostitution. My goal was to stop the violence and restore security when necessary in conjunction with law enforcement and other entities that provide help to stop domestic violence. Furthermore I educated professionals, volunteers and adolescents on previous topics e.g. the risks, how to deal with, methods, organisations, law, possible resolutions etc.

The duties of a social worker are: psychosocial support, concrete and informative assistance, research and reporting, signaling, interest representation and prevention, coordinating assistance and services. People can ask for help regarding the following subjects: relationships, divorce, family and education, loneliness, loss and bereavement, labor, experiences of violence, perpetrator or victim of domestic violence, problems with authorities, sexual abuse, quarrels, financial problems.

As a social worker for Steunpunt Huiselijk Geweld, I worked with clients who had to deal with human trafficking, child prostitution or domestic violence; elderly abuse, honour-related violence and all forms of relational violence.

As a social worker for prostitutes and victims of human trafficking I coordinated the help and assistance for victims of human trafficking. Other tasks were individual counselling, field/ outreaching work, case management, prevention and awareness campaigns.

The option method is a program for autistic children and aims by playing to get contact and to stimulate the development of the mind.
