Student ResearcherUniversity Of Twente Feb 2020 - Jul 2020Enschede, Overijssel, NetherlandsGraduation project as eHealth oriented Health Scientist, researching the added value of eye-tracking in usability testing whilst improving the appearance of a public health website based on the usability tests' outcomes. The One Health Hub is a question and answer website for the general public its question about zoonoses - animal diseases transmittable to humans. This website is developed to inform and educate members of the general public and healthcare professionals on the topic of zoonoses. Thereby aiming to increase the general knowledge of zoonoses and contributing to the improvement of public health. The One Health Hub was usability tested with members of the general public to identify what elements of the website work and what elements can be improved. In the usability tests eye-tracking was used, which is rather novel in the field of usability testing. Therefore, in my research I did not only look at the outcomes of the usability tests to evaluate what elements of the website should be improved, but also looked at the added value of eye-tracking in usability testing. To visualise possible alterations to the website that could improve its usability, a prototype with a renewed design was developed based on the usability test outcomes and (UX) design rules founded in literature. -
Student ResearcherUniversity Of Twente Feb 2018 - Jul 2018Enschede, Overijssel, NetherlandsGraduation project as Creative Technologist, researching how haptic feedback can be combined with wearable technology in order to change ones seated posture. This project contained three main domains: haptic feedback, wearable technology and posture improvement.Haptic feedback is feedback applied through touch. In this project, this was translated into changing someone's posture by giving a slight push at the back. This can be done in person, but by using a vibrating actuator, feedback can be given at any time. By placing an actuator correctly, someone's touch can be recreated. Wearable technology is technology that can be worn on the body. This has as an advantage that the haptic feedback can be applied anywhere on the body, which allows placement with a low cognitive load. In order to be able to give feedback, there has to be something to give feedback on. Therefore, it is important that the wearable technology also hosts a place for sensors that can measure the difference between a poor and proper posture. Of course the technology is very important, but there is another aspect which does not require a lot of technology knowledge, but rather a lot of insight into the domain of the physiotherapist. When a posture needs to be changed, it is extremely important to be able to recognise a poor and proper posture. When recognising a poor posture it is essential to know what is responsible for this posture in order to change it into a correct posture. The knowledge of these three domains together, enabled the possibility to create a posture correcting wearable with the use of haptic feedback. -
