Biochemical Process Engineer, in total 13 years of experience in developing capabilities and optimizing processes for Sweetener and Biofuel manufacturers.Few successes: • Technical expert advising Sales, Marketing, R&D and Application in designing, improving and scaling up of Biorefinery processes for bioethanol/sugar syrup production, in identifying bottlenecks in process development and in developing new technologies. • Led an international project team to model enzyme performance under broad range of process conditions in RSM models. Presented results identifying leads to improve product performance within the organization. • Set up GM lab, learned GMP fermentation techniques for yeast, tested new lab running bench-scale fermentations within budget and time limits. • Collaborated in international team contributing to the development of Dynamic Fermentation Models using TMODS. • Mentor of junior colleagues and interns, organized lab training and supervised exams.

• Supported Sales in implementing new enzyme products during industrial scale trials at 20+ largest Biorefinery plants in EMEA. Responsible for compiling, curating and analyzing large data sets generated during commercial trials and presenting results to customers. • Led the successful design and construction of innovative lab equipment aimed at energy reduction in Downstream Processing. Close collaboration with internal and external experts in a cross-functional team. • Won recognition award for significantly accelerating scientific research through assay development for starch liquefaction scaling down from pilot to bench-scale. Responsible for the successful implementation of this method at other labs worldwide. • Developed enzyme blends for sugar syrup production for hard candies through the creation and validation of models. Successful collaboration with 2 major customers in technology transfer, tests run on bench- and pilot scale together with customer on production sites.

• In addition to product development, assisted Sales and their customers in identifying bottlenecks in commercial bio-processes and help them overcome these through bench-scale experiments and developing innovative solutions. • Conducted in-depth research on how process conditions affect alpha-amylase performance in starch liquefaction. Valuable know-how created in improving glucose yield, reducing steam consumption through viscosity reduction and optimizing the filtration step. Received a promotion for this research. • Collaborated in international team on the development of Cold-cook technologies, enzymatic starch liquefaction without high temperature step, improving sustainability through energy reduction.

• Enzymatic production of hyaluronan oligo- and polysaccharides. Dissertation and public defence "very good". • Collaboration between Food & Biobased Research Centre, Process Engineering department WUR and Organon. • Learned how to set up research, plan experiments and how to present results in peer-reviewed articles and presentations at congresses.• Trained and coached students during their internships and courses at section Process Engineering (WUR).• Lab skills: enzyme characterization, enzyme kinetics, model discrimination and corresponding statistics, assay development, enzyme immobilization, enzyme quantification assays, HPLC, FPLC, MALDI/TOF-MS.
