    The role provided safety and quality assurance for Heathrow Airport in relation to Aerodrome Safety and Airside Operations, and was accountable for Heathrow’s UK CAA Aerodrome License, and its transition to an EASA Aerodrome Certificate. The role provided safety leadership to the Heathrow operation and its airfield partners and acted as the main point of contact to the UK Regulator, the Civil Aviation Authority. The role managed a yearly operational expenditure budget of circa £2.0m and provided leadership to a team of 10 safety professionals. Key Achievements- Heathrow Airport’s transition from a UK CAA Aerodrome License to the European EASA Aerodrome Certificate. This included the introduction and establishment of robust Aviation Safety Management Systems across the operation. The Aerodrome Safety Management System was deemed fully compliant by the CAA at the first EASA audit completed in Mar 17.- Leading the introduction of BS 9001 Quality Management within Heathrow’s Airside Operation. The quality management system is fully BSI 9001 compliant and was been aligned to Heathrow's Aerodrome Safety Management System.- Leading the delivery and implementation of Heathrow Airside Learning Plan. This is a full training framework for the Airside Operation which assures EASA compliance while enabling the induction and competence development and maintenance of all front line and management personnel within Heathrow's Aerodrome operation.

Heathrow Airside Operations comprises circa 150 technical, managerial and front line staff that deliver on a 24 / 7 basis all runway and airfield compliance activities, ensuring and supporting the effective flow of aircraft within the airfield, controlling all works on the airfield, responding to all airfield incidents and emergencies and maintaining a clean and safe working environment for Heathrow’s 30,000 aircraft and airfield personnel. During 2012 and 2013, as acting Head of Airside Operations, the role further provided leadership to Heathrow ATM management, winter operations, and A-CDM implementation. The role operated within a direct operational expenditure budget of circa £16m per year.Key Achievements• Leading the Airside Operations change programme aimed to deliver improved safety, compliance and customer service at reduced costs (10% OPEX savings).• Sponsoring the delivery and implementation of Heathrow's new Airside Operations Facility, combining safety and transport personnel and providing a logistical base for all response teams on the airfield - including winter operations response. • Review and implementation of Heathrow's Winter Operations Plan. The role lead a full review of the winter operations plan, identifying process improvements and pinch points, and developed a comprehensive suite of processes and training packages that ensured that the Heathrow airfield remained open at all times through Winter 2012.

This included a thorough process review identifying key opportunities and pinch points, a review and change of the design and delivery model, the implementation of a new contracting framework, and the selection of 3 strategic suppliers. This resulted in a contractual fee reduction of 5%, systematic contractual compliance, and a reduction of average project times from 12 weeks to 9 weeks.- Leading Operational Readiness activities towards Terminal 5 Airfield opening. This consisted of the management and delivery of a 12 workstream programme of activities, from infrastructure commissioning to training and familiarisation, combining the efforts of aerodrome and air traffic personnel. This lead to the T5 airfield being ready for opening 3 months ahead of schedule and being complimented by the CAA on the thoroughness and collaborative approach demonstrated to achieve compliance status
