I am a writer first, and a marketer second.I've always been a voracious reader, and my love for words helped me develop my skill in writing. Today, I read 1-2 articles a day not only as a hobby, but to continually learn and improve in my profession. What most writers won't tell you is that our effectiveness relies on how good we are at researching. Before wrestling with a subject, I make sure to develop a deep understanding of the main topic as well as its branches. I take the time to learn the terminology used by insiders. I familiarize myself with the tone authors on the topic use, so that my writing will feel comfortable to the reader.I also take time to know who these readers are. Targeting your writing style is an extremely important element in writing. Every marketer knows that you cannot advertise to everyone, but not every writer knows that you cannot write for everyone. I also manage social media content, so I vary my writing style depending on the platform. Social media is a tricky sort of animal to wrangle, and it takes experience to understand its nuances and lean into the unique challenges of each platform and corresponding audience.I'm currently working and learning at the same time as a freelance Editorial Marketing Manager for a global tech brand, creating content, managing social media, and brainstorming marketing strategies.In 2015, an article I wrote for Pulptastic.com got Top 8 and Top 3 (for two different categories) on NewsWhip's Top 10 Facebook Posts of 2015 with 1,174,625 likes, shares, & comments.
