Cold Side Area Manager
I will be leading the Cold Side Day Shift team and managing the lagering, filtering, and releasing of our beers! Our Dream is to make world class beer on time and in specification.
Hot Side Business Process Manager
My day to day role is leading an on-shift team of front line workers to efficiently manage the hot side process in the Brewing Department to create our world class lagers. My area of specialization was in Fermenting for the first 9 months in role before my process area expanded to the Hot Side in its entirety and my team of direct reports focused to just the Hot Side Afternoon Shift brewers. The strategy my Fermenting team had been focused on executing was bringing real-time, process indicator monitoring to the operator workstation to facilitate quick reaction to fermentation deviations and expand our team's knowledge on the process. Ultimately, this changes the way our team connects to the daily work we do. Through this PI monitoring, upskilling efforts, and creating a culture of learning, my team achieved a 22% increase in the Fermenting Consistency Index KPI in the year, smashing our year end target by over 10%. This was driven by deeper understanding of fermenting science, refining our routines, and process improvements with our maintenance and quality assurance teams' collaboration. Now, my team's strategy is to continue building on this momentum but expanding our learning mindset and drive for continuous improvement to the entire Hot Side of brewing. We aim to brew the best Budweiser in the world through autonomy at the front line, putting responsibility and knowledge in the hands of those who are closest to our process.
Operations Shift Manager
Led shift performance through organizing manpower, guiding troubleshooting efforts, and responding to safety and quality concerns. I was also able to assist on larger line projects, including can Line 45 seamer overhaul and bottle Line 85 start-up focus group.
Environmental And Safety Intern
My primary role as the Environmental Intern was to complete environmental compliance projects for the Los Angeles Brewery to maintain license to operate and contribute to local and company-wide sustainability goals. I was also able to design a spreadsheet detailing the area and utility breakdown of the 28 buildings in the facility and provided supporting documentation to assist in future audits and compliance projects. While in role, I also attended weekly taste panel with the LA brewing team to practice sensory analysis at another brewery.
Brewing Co-Op
During my co-op, I worked in the brewing department at the Columbus Brewery. I trained operators and technicians on distillation for the production of Bud Zero and assisted them in Brewery Acceptance Testing. My smaller project work included developing reaction plans for equipment centers in the Finishing area, and helping our team to achieve monthly compliance with micro goals. Following my co-op at the Columbus Brewery, I worked part-time as a weekend Brewing Supervisor where I had more direct impact on production than as a Co-op and was able to lead the weekend team and ensure we met production goals.
Chemical Engineering Co-Op
In this role I served as a project engineer at a plant producing Ethylene Oxide. In my primary project, I collaborated with operators and a multidisciplinary team of engineers to reduce fugitive emissions by implementing a standardized pump decontamination procedure. I also performed a gas hourly space velocity analysis and catalyst evaluation on two Ethylene Oxide reactors and established a tool to optimized the system based on current raw material pricing. I also assisted in gathering flow data to determine heat transfer in fouling heat exchangers using ultrasonic flow meters in the plant and Aspen Process Explorer. I also volunteered in many community outreach events, such as a chili cook off for cancer and a veteran air show event.
Technical Sales Intern
I had the opportunity to spend my summer working with the Systems sales team in Cleveland, developing my knowledge of the HVAC industry and Trane's products and culture. It was a very unique engineering internship, and I was able to learn about sales strategy while using my interpersonal skills and creativity.During the summer I sent out over 50 HVAC equipment and system proposals to contractors, with the equipment I selected totaling over $1,600,000. I attended bid meetings to learn about our sales strategy, joined account managers for their meetings and events with our customers, and For my capstone project I organized a VRF Showcase in the training lab that Cleveland office finished building this summer. Our customers will be able to attend the showcase to learn about a variety of VRF hot topics from Trane and Mitsubishi product specialists while they tour our lab and enjoy local food and drink. Over the summer I worked with my mentor to help our team get comfortable using an organization platform called Trello, which the team now uses as a bid tracking tool.
Resident Advisor
I lived in an all-female cooperative-living campus housing community as the Resident Advisor. I organized and facilitated programs for the residents surrounding themes of wellness, diversity, and campus inclusion. I also helped mediate and resolve conflict in the house and served as a resource and support system to the residents.
Undergraduate Researcher
I participate in research with a graduate student supervisor as a part of the liquid phase team of the Heterogeneous Catalysis Research Group. The group is performing research on swellable organically modified silica (SOMS) and its application as a Pd catalyst support in water treatment for groundwater contaminated with chlorines. On average, I spend 10 hours a week in the lab. My experience includes: completion of lab and chemical safety training, full preparation of the catalyst and the support (ball milling, sieving, support impregnation, reduction, etc.), data collection and organization, and attendance of group meetings, where the group gives presentations on progress in the lab and on other topics important to the industry, the Ohio State University, and safety.
Office Assistant
I worked as an office assistant and have been a member of the Houston-Houck Complex and Smith-Steeb Hall staff. This work included completing Diversity and Inclusion training and communicating on multiple platforms with residents, coworkers, parents, and OSU staff.
Barista And Cashier
I worked full time during the summer and part-time over breaks, utilizing customer service and communication skills.
