I am a dyslexic/dyspraxic children and families social worker, writer, activist and speaker with a commitment to supporting both children/families and the neurodivergent social work workforce. I currently work as a youth engagement officer at Hampshire and Isle of White OPCC utilising skills in co-production work and youth engagement work to gather young peoples views on crime and policing in order to influence systems change and service delivery. I have worked within the statutory, voluntary and health sector working with children and families. I have gained experience within long term child protection, referral and assessment, supporting mental health and supporting healthy sexual development/behaviours. I additionally gained experience developing and managing a project, which was the first service in Portsmouth to provide specialist support to children who are demonstrating developmentally inappropriate or problematic sexualised behaviours, and their support network. I work additionally work independently, using my lived and living experiences to provide training to social work organisations (Local Authority/NGO/NHS/Universities) on neurodiversity awareness, neuro-inclusion and practical ways to support neurodivergent social workers (both systems change and individual support). Finally, I host the Neurodivergent Social Worker website and blog to campaign for neuro-inclusion in social work.
