Examine and analyze evidence from simple to moderately complex casework for chemical indications of the presence of blood and/or other body fluids and/or perform a DNA typing test to determine the donor of a particular body fluid. Make judgments, interpret results, and testify in court as necessary to explain and defend findings.

Supervise Identification Specialists in the absence of a supervisor to ensure the quality and accuracy of all criminal fingerprint cards taken within the shift and complete verification of all arrestee identifications. Oversee the daily work activities of approximately four employees during the absence of an assigned supervisor. Provide training to new Identification Specialists on how to obtain fingerprints, how to create a criminal record, and how to make a positive identification on an arrestee in custody. Responsible for making minor adjustments to work methods to solve problems that are routine and typically exist in current work processes and systems. Fingerprint, photograph, and collect DNA from arrestees in accordance with NC General Statutes and disseminate criminal information to other law enforcement and authorized agencies.
