About Florencia Andrea Castello, Ph.D.

I have a master's degree in biological sciences and a PhD in biological chemistry from the University of Buenos Aires and I am currently doing postdoc with a CONICET fellowship. Since 2015, I have been dedicated to the study of infectious diseases, with a primary focus on tuberculosis. My experience spans both experimental laboratory work and the use of bioinformatics tools.Throughout my career, I have actively participated in research on immune response, utilizing human cells and susceptible as well as multidrug-resistant strains of M. tuberculosis. My focus includes the search for new diagnostic tools, employing techniques such as ELISA, flow cytometry, and sequence analysis. Additionally, I have contributed to identifying new drug targets and exploring potential pharmacological compounds.Furthermore, I provide practical classes in bioinformatics and engage in outreach activities at the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences, UBA.Skills:General: Teamwork, organization, commitment, high-level English proficiency.Wet Lab: ELISA, Flow Cytometry, cloning, protein production, work in biosafety cabinets II and III, cell culture, DNA extraction, among others.Dry Lab: Sequence analysis (NGS), assembly, proteomic and genomic analysis, R, Python, data analysis, database management (SQL), protein modeling, docking, among others.
