Community Health Councils (CHC) is a community-based non-profit health promotion and policy organization dedicated to promoting social justice and achieving equity in community and environmental resources to improve the health of underserved populations. Established in 1992 following the civil unrest in Los Angeles, CHC is located in the Crenshaw district of South Los Angeles, the most socio-economically diverse region in the County and City of Los Angeles. The organization’s mission is carried out through four strategic goals: increase health coverage and improve health systems, improve food resources, expand open space and mobility, and reduce environmental hazards.

As the Blue Zones Initiative Project Manager led the first Healthways | Blue Zones Vitality City Social Innovation $5.3M Pilot Initiative aimed at measurably improving well-being among residents in Hermosa, Manhattan and Redondo Beach, while creating a profitable and scalable national model.

An affordable housing development organization with assets of over $124 Million: Instrumental in changing the landscape of the organization into a learning environment that produced economic development opportunities for low-income residents and doubled the company’s operating budget in 1.5 years. Including the creation of a food related social enterprise.

Established a thriving and profitable high-end designer wholesale company in Los Angeles, in addition to a retail store in the Dominican Republic, with 10 employees and over 30 local and international vendors (USA, India, China, Mexico, and Dominican Republic).Received extensive press recognition and established a list of clients which included Barneys, Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Sundance Catalog, and various high-end boutiques nationally.

The NLN was the accrediting body for all nursing schools in the United States, with an operating budget of $15 Million and a staff of over 100. Brought about organizational change, to a 100 year old organization, which produced a more diverse, comprehensive, and streamlined national institution with increased accountability to its membership. Improved communication between its 20 Leagues and managed their budgets, public relations and business plan development. Established and maintained ongoing health based projects, nationally and internationally, with partners such as the Pan American World Health Organization, the World Health Organization, the Nursing Council of Spain, and the Center for Gender Studies in the Dominican Republic.

Improved agency operations through fiscal management and the creation of a relevant human resources department; Increased operating budget through public and private grant writing and donor relations, including media and community relations.
