Technical project leader for R&D of novel, microstructured optical fiber (MOF) gas & liquid sensors.- Designed & developed a novel microstructured fiber-based Faraday rotation spectroscopy (FRS) sensor for nL detection of paramagnetic gas (O2)- Developed a new optical fiber dip-sensor for environmental sensing of liquid samples, using soft-glass MOFs and fluorescence-spectroscopy based sensing architectures- Experienced with wavelength modulation spectroscopy (WMS), lock-in amplifiers & differential detection schemes for signal enhancement- Experienced with fiber processing techniques and integration of MOF sensing elements within conventional fiber architectures- Wrote & contributed to successful research and equipment grant applications- Supervised & trained postgraduate students

Practical training semester & thesis research.- Developed portable, compact, rugged and alignment insensitive tunable diode laser-based gas sensor systems and their application for NH3/CO2 detection- Tested & operated portable diode laser based gas sensors during field-tests in 'real-world' conditions- Employed tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) for trace gas detection in real-time applications, using a multipass cell for signal enhancement
