👋 Hi, I'm Flo !My journey began with a dream to become a doctor, which turned into a nightmare as I realised that the healthcare system - especially in Germany - is broken ! I started off working in operational roles several medical facilities: inpatient & outpatient care, infant care, laboratories, etc. etc. Subsequently, in China, together with Adler Kliniken, I built a hybrid care ecosystem combining telemedicine and mobile-physical practices to bring primary care and care coordination to expats in both remote and urban hubs. Then, with neurocare, I helped build tech-enabled psychosomatic outpatient practices in the UK, the US, and Europe.At GoMedicus, we are building primary care ecosystems in Germany, enabling the GP to function as the care coordinator along the patient journey.To me, it is clear that we need to proactively show patients where to go, when to go, and how to get there. Only that way can we build healthier societies with healthier people.Personally, the production and sharing of knowledge between people and disciplines has always been key. I hold a BSc in Neuroscience, an MA in Philosophy, and a PhD in Philosophy and Psychoanalysis. In 2022, I founded and now operate a Master’s program in psychoanalysis at GCAS College Dublin—a decentralized, debt-free university—that runs hybrid-education cohorts of approximately 50 students per year. Previously wrote a paper using basic-image properties to explain the emotional perception of faces as a new method to explain previously collected results in suppression paradigms (b-CFS, CFS, BR). We successfully explained ambiguities in findings of previous studies with using spatial frequency and local edge orientation in faces. Currently working on a paper comparing the low-level image properties responsible to encode emotions in faces and abstract art. We expect to find the same properties (spatial frequency, edge orientation, colours) to encode how we categorise emotions in art and faces.Both of these projects contribute to turning away from understanding emotional experience in terms of categories (happy, sad, etcetera) that are processed in higher cognition but in terms of low-level properties processed early in the visual hierarchy. -
