    The objective of this proposal is to carry out an intensive geothermal exploration campaign of the Rift System of the Gulf of California and its continental shelf to better understand the geothermal potential of the region. For this, CICESE's new exploration platform, the R/V Alpha Helix, will be used to acquire data on heat flow, magnetotelluric (MT), controlled-source electromagnetic (CSEM) method, reflection and refraction seismic, magnetometry and single-beam bathymetry. In addition, hydrogeochemistry and collection of sediments and volcanic rocks from the seabed with a dredge and nucleator is planned. The new measurements derived from this project will substantially increase the spatial resolution of existing databases. The goal of this project is to obtain a clear image of the distribution of heat fluxes and thermal gradients in areas of interest in the Gulf of California rift system. Data on specific igneous bodies already identified in previous exploration campaigns will be acquired and detailed models of their structure and thermal evolution will be built.With these data, maps of areas with better possibilities of geothermal resources will be generated, and investment models of the conductive structure and models of the thermal state of these will be obtained.At the same time, this project will seek answers to the following questions: What is the heat loss by conduction and convection in the basins of the Gulf of California strongly dominated by sedimentation, south of the Cerro Prieto geothermal field? What is the amount of heat released by the igneous intrusives (sills) in those basins and what is their current thermal state? How much heat do transform fault systems produce along the Gulf of California rift system? How much heat is carried to the surface by the volcanic fields distributed along the Gulf of California?
